TRACS Meeting Notes
We have posted our TRACS Industry Meeting notes on our web site. Thanks to Cela Toon of RealPage www.realpage.com and Jed Graef of IPM Software www.ipm-software.net for helping make edits and filling in the information I missed. Cela is doing an excellent job standing in for Janel Ganim who just had her second baby – a boy – in June.

TRACS 202B Release
As most of you know, in March, HUD released the 202B version of TRACS. However, two key issues were still outstanding – The OMB approval of the new 4670 voucher and the OMB approval of the 50059. HUD delayed mandatory implementation of the 202B release until the forms were complete. This delay provided software vendors with the time they need to ensure a timely, quality release.
These forms have now been approved so you should be seeing updates from software vendors between now and the end of November. Please remember to back up before applying any new software updates.
Everyone must be ready to submit in 202B format by December 1. This means the January electronic submissions must be in the 202B format or they will be rejected. For those of you working with Contract Administrators. Most contract administrators are ready to accept information in 202B format, but it would not hurt to double check before sending your first 202B transmission.
If is especially critical, during a new software release, to get your information in as early as possible so that your CA has plenty of opportunity to reconcile your voucher before it is sent to TRACS.
New 50059
We now have a copy of the new approved 50059. In order to satisfy the need to have residents sign an official document illustrating how the rent was calculated, HUD announced the return of the paper 50059 (vs. the 50059 facsimile). A copy of the new form can be found on our web site at http://www.rbdnow.com/noticesforms.htm.
The form will be officially released through HUDClips with a set of instructions defining how the form should be completed. Please keep in mind that this 50059 includes fields that will be used by TRACS in later releases. These are defined as “Future” fields. We will be sending additional information about the new 50059 under a separate email.
Use of the new form is a requirement for 202B which means that you must be using the new 50059 by December 1.
4350.3 FAQs
We are strongly encouraging all of our customers, who have not already reviewed the 4350.3 FAQs to do so as soon as possible. The information is now considered policy based on a notice from Stillman Knight. This should be stored in close proximity to the 4350.3 Handbook. We have posted the FAQs on our web site for your convenience. http://www.rbdnow.com/4350links.htm
At the TRACS meeting, HUD speculated that the new 4350.3 Revision 1 Change 2 should be released around September. The information in the FAQs will be incorporated along with additional changes.
