Session 1: Reasonable Accommodation & Assistance Animals – HUD’s New Guidance
This session provides a comprehensive explanation of the Reasonable Accommodation & Modification process surrounding requests for assistance animals. We will discuss HUD’s new guidance, new state laws making it a crime to submit false claims of the needs for an assistance animal and use of state Dangerous Dog registries.
Session 2: Certification, Recertification & COVID 19
This session provides a comprehensive review of the MI certification and Recertification changes caused by reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes sending certifications using the Extenuating Circumstance Code, accepting electronic signatures, distribution of required forms and use of EIV.
We will briefly discuss two of the changes introduced with the Streamlining Final Rule – Changes to verification of assets and verification of fixed income. This session provides a checklist-style review of the process and what must be included in the tenant file to ensure compliance.
Session 3: Preparing for the MOR
Join us to discuss “best practices” to help you prepare for the HUD Management & Occupancy Review. We will discuss the MOR process and provide you with information about new HUD clarifications.
Session 4: Updating Property Policies and Procedures
Especially now, review of existing policies is critical. Documenting standard policies and any changes (temporary or permanent) to those policies is worth discussing. We will talk about the tenant selection plan, House Rules, Pet Rules, Repayment Agreement policies and policies surrounding zero income residents.
Session 5: Beyond the Handbook
This session discusses Multifamily Housing Rules that are not commonly discussed in standard occupancy classes. Some of these are covered in HH 4350.3 and some are reviewed in HUD’s MAT Guide. However, other questions and answers address common issues that housing professionals face every day. We’ll also discuss common “professional urban legends” that are not really requirements.
