Handling Recertifications in a Changing Environment

RBD has been fielding an increasing number of calls from you, our customers, asking how to handle Annual Recertification tasks and an increasing number of requests for Interim Recertification. 

There is a lot to think about.  We really can’t wait to complete certifications when residents’ income has been reduced and/or expenses (child care) have increased.  It’s important to complete the necessary paperwork quickly to determine new Tenant Rent and Subsidy Payments.  But there are new challenges that we have never had to address before. 

Concerns about face-to-face contact, limited ability to contact verification sources and increasing numbers of requests for a review of income are new challenges that property managers are struggling to address.  There are many alternatives to owner/agents including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting interviews via telephone or teleconferencing options
  • Electronic delivery/receipt of documents
  • Sending certifications using Extenuating Circumstances Codes and obtaining tenant signatures later

Class Length: 2 Hours

RBD Online Training Workshops are hosted by GoToTraining. We must use the GoToTraining registration option to add students to each class. This means each student must register and pay separately. You may choose to pay by credit card or email onlinetraining@rbdnow.com to request an invoice. Each student must have a separate and unique email address. Class completion certificates are provided to all student who have registered, paid and participated in the online training.
