We're Turning 20!

Ross Business Development is beginning its 20th year in business!

It seems like yesterday when we started. Complying with HUD regulations seemed to be getting harder and Mark and I knew we could help.

We didn't quite know how at the time, but we had a goal - establish ourselves as a resource for busy property managers trying to navigate HUD's compliance requirements.

Even though it's still just three of us, you, our customers, have trusted in us to help you navigate the continually changing and challenging world of HUD multifamily housing.

As we move forward, we want you to know that one thing will never change: our commitment to providing the best training, support, and products.

We love hearing from you and we continue to listen to your feedback. You have driven us to make some exciting changes in 2021. Let me tell you what we have in store for you...

We have updated all the current RBD Online Training Workshops to include new information related to COVID-19 and other HUD announcements. Based on your requests we have also added new RBD Online Training Workshop topics.

We'll send information as the class dates draw nearer.

Check out our first three RBD Online Training Workshops in January:

  • The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) - updated to provide more information about real-world situations
  • Preparing for the MOR - how did COVID-19 affect our responses to MOR questions (Did you collect rent in compliance with the lease? - No. Did you charge late fees in compliance with the lease? - No. How long did it take to turn a unit? - Could have been a couple of months...)
  • eTransmission, eSignature, and eStorage - what are the rules, and how easy is it to convert from paper files to electronic files?

Based on your calls, and the need to offer basic but comprehensive training for new property managers, we have decided to offer a comprehensive, 15-part RBD Online Training Series that will cover HUD Occupancy from A to Z. Be on the lookout for more information.

You asked for and we have scheduled three HUD Today 2021 classes. HUD Today 2021 is a five-part online training class. This year, HUD Today 2021 is full of information that you need to know now. We will be discussing:

  1. Advanced Reasonable Accommodation & Modification (assigned parking, live-in aides, assistance animals, replaced flooring, visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic)
  2. Advanced Income and Assets (What's Not in the Handbook - New Medicare Accounts, COVID-19 instruction, Go Fund Me assets, eWallets, Gig Income, CARES Act benefits - have you developed policies to address?)
  3. Certifications and Addressing TRACS Errors
  4. Top 20 Management & Occupancy Review Findings; and
  5. Our ever-popular session - Beyond the Handbook

You have expressed an interest in being able to participate in training at any time - especially important when you have new hires. So, in 2021, we are setting up an RBD OnDemand Training Library so that you and your teams can participate in training classes with Mary at any time. Let us know which topics are of the most interest.

As always, we will continue to provide you with the latest HUD Multifamily Occupancy news through our RBD HUDBlast and we'll maintain the RBD HUDBlast Archives in case you've missed an important announcement.

We will also maintain and add to the RBD FASTForms Library and our RBD FASTFacts located on our Resources page to provide you with comprehensive explanations, policies, forms, notices, and checklists. We've been modifying documents through the pandemic to make sure they are as up-to-date as possible.

It's going to be an exciting year and Mark, Jennifer and I are looking forward to catching up and working with all of you.
