CDC Extends Moratorium on Evictions

for Nonpayment of Rent

to June 30, 2021

Despite several court rulings declaring the CDC Moratorium unconstitutional, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extended its eviction moratorium, further preventing the eviction of tenants who are unable to make rental payments.

The moratorium that was scheduled to expire on March 31, 2021 is now extended through June 30, 2021

You can read the revised order and the White House press release with additional resources.

The new CDC Declaration can be found on the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/EvictionDeclare_d508.pdf

HUD will include revised guidance for this extension when the updated Multifamily Housing COVID-19 Questions & Answers document is released. The current Multifamily Housing COVID-19 Q&A can be found on our COVID-19 Resource page. We will send another HUDBlast when the new Q&A is posted.

We have also provided an explanation of the extension of the CDC Moratorium on Evictions with links to new resources on the RBD News page.
